Eagle Ridge – Thwarted Burglary

At approximately 1 AM on August 7th, an alert resident noticed a suspicious car parked in front of a neighbor’s residence and called the police. Fortunately the police were nearby and responded immediately.

Once on the scene the police, suspecting a crime was occurring (or had occurred) entered the neighbor’s house. Inside, they found three persons robbing the house—two juvenile males and one older African-American male (details of the juveniles are unknown at this time).

One of the intruders bolted and ran. Officers took chase while others remained behind and took the remaining two suspects into custody. The fleeing suspect was apprehended and also arrested.

The house was not alarmed and entry was made through a window that was closed but had been left unlocked. (The owner is now in the process of getting an alarm system installed.)

The officers placed all of the owner’s electronic equipment that was about to be stolen in a pile with a note explaining what happened and a case number, then secured the premises and took the suspects to jail.

When the owner returned home he called the police and was told that this crew was sophisticated and most likely responsible for a number of the other burglaries that have occurred in the Eagle Ridge area.

This positive result is due to an alert and responsible neighbor. It’s an example for us all.
